Forum

Together with sponsors and supporters, SmartNet is running a one day event on 22 March with the focus on learning from the experiences of Christchurch public and private sector organisations: their resilience, their preparedness to handle business interruption and their innovation in the wake of the quakes as they and their people recover, rethink what they do and how they do it and refocus on the future.

TelstraClear Seismics and the City is about organisational behaviour in the face of disaster, disruption or major challenge. Powerful case studies from the Canterbury Earthquakes will be used/presented which will shed light on the ingredients of a resilient organisational culture and demonstrate how adaptive people and the uptake of new technologies can accelerate the recovery process.

The event will also emphasise the opportunities which accompany catastrophic events and disruptive changes and the on-going need to re-strategise business planning in order to prepare for the worst while planning for the best.

Urban Safari

TelstraClear Seismics and the City will not be a conventional conference - it will be part forum, part knowledge cafes, part showcase and part Urban Safari, with organisation visits and opportunities for high level knowledge sharing and networking. It will also feature a Working Smarter Virtual Expo demonstrating new ways of working using innovative products and services.

Whether you are from Christchurch or further afield Seismics and the City
is a unique opportunity to pause, reflect and learn from the disruptive events of the previous 18 months, to apply those learnings to your organisation and set new goals for the year ahead.

Target Audience

- A mix of managers and board members from public and private sector organisations in Canterbury, including representatives of innovative, export oriented Christchurch organisations and their partners, suppliers and professional advisers

- Out of town managers and board members interested in upgrading their own business continuity planning and innovation strategies by learning from the Canterbury seismic experiences and recovery

- Consultants, academics and managers from throughout New Zealand and further afield in the fields of Enterprise Risk Management, Strategic Planning, Organisation Development, Learning and Development, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, new Media, Cloud based Data Management and Mobile Communications

TelstraClear Seismics and the City will present the best thinking on how businesses can prepare to meet disruptive risks, which may include natural disasters, rapid changes in the business environment such as recession, or disruptive changes in technology.
