Feedback ELF 2007

We thoroughly enjoyed the conference… Look forward to hearing about next year's event and happy to contribute in any way that will help….
Camilla Highfield, Director, Teacher Support Services, University of Auckland

I really appreciated my participation in the conference I have told my colleagues that it was a very valuable two days.
Prof Paul Dalziel, Lincoln University

I enjoyed the Forum, and so did my staff. We all made some useful contacts and I only received positive feedback from my team.
Dr Pim Borren, CEO, Waiariki Institute of Technology

..it was a magical venue. And a lot of hard work on your part to bring it all together. ...interesting that this was the Minister's last public engagement before he announced his retirement from politics…….
Malcolm Bell, Private Secretary, Education Office of Hon Steve Maharey

Thanks Lyall. I had a great time. The snow was an added bonus!
Hon Steve Maharey, Associate Minister of Education

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Wished I could have stayed for the second! Very relevant and useful. I have never been to a forum in NZ where so many from across the sectors were represented… Thanks for your organisation and foresight.
Trevor McIntyre, Principal, Christchurch Boys High

I enjoyed meeting and making a few new friends at ELF …I do think that there are many opportunities for industry and education to work together - one thing that came through for me from the panel discussions - employers are not considered as stakeholders. It may be a result of educators staying in the education system for life, and have little or no appreciation of what happens to the "educated product" once it hits the workplace. ..
Certainly, next year it would be useful to have more representation from the employers and manufactures education unit, the larger employer groups like Telecom, and some larger public sector employers MSD, IRD as well.
Pam Blacktop, Learning and Development Manager, AMI Insurance Ltd

Congratulation on the success of the forum. I thought it was great and I will certainly try to attend next year………….. Next year lets be sure to reflect on any changes since this meeting - positive or negative.
Cynthia Darlington, Associate Professor in Neuroscience, University of Otago

…thanks all of your arrangements, and for organizing an excellent programme.
Prof. Don Hanna, University of Wisconsin-Extension

Thanks for doing a great job in organizing and running ELF…It is clearly an essential part of the infrastructure that is needed to help get education on the right path for the 21st Century.
Neil G Scott, D.Sc. Director, Archimedes Hawaii Project

Congrats, Lyall - a helluva well executed event.
Russ Skinner, Director, Skinner & Associates

I felt this was a useful beginning suggest that an overarching framework of intems to be considered for an agenda for action might provide greater focus for discussions, and more concrete outputs
Michaela O'Donovan, Manager, National Library of NZ

Re Online - yes will look forward to taking some discussion further. Expected more balance between school/workplace.
Sarah Marsh, Director, Eductech KM Ltd

Useful networking - Lots of new people/organizations - Particularly good for networking and some new ideas
Jayne-Ann Young, Deputy Principal, Diocesan School for Girls

Congratulations on pulling together such a vibrant group of people to education. That was an immense undertaking and generated very valuable discussions… It was a magical site you chose…fascinating people.
Deb Gilbertson Director-Global Enterprise Experience

Well run with a difficult mix of people to keep happy. Well done. ..Almost like industry was an after thought. Better integration of the role of industry - or post tertiary learning as possible topic for next year.
Ian Olliver, Group Training Manager, Fulton Hogan

Blogs/discussion are great but what about a 'suggested actions' topic category to keep its feet on the ground
Russ Skinner, Director, Skinner & Associates

Thanks for listening to my concerns… I tend towards wanting to solve issues rather than just diagnose them and would have liked more time to talk about - what is our vision and what can we then do to achieve this? But as I say 2nd day was much better!
Terry Neal, Manager,Blended Solutions E-learning Project

In the future it would be good to include more scenarios - building across sectors and groups working on specific challenges and opportunities in depth and maybe also some more young people involvement and building agenda for action
Elizabeth Jones, Manager Schools Northern, National Library of NZ
