Location
Terrace Downs is situated approximately 50 Minutes drive west
of Christchurch Airport; based on the north side of the Rakaia
Gorge River, just 20 minutes from the Mt Hutt Ski Area access
Road and Methven, Mt Hutt Village.
Driving Directions From Christchurch
From the Christchurch International Airport, drive south (SH 1)
approximately 10km until you come to a 4-way intersection/stop
light (Caltex Station on your left), take a right hand turn onto
the Main West Coast Road (SH 73) traveling through Yaldhurst towards
Arthur’s Pass. After passing through West Melton (a further 10
minutes from Yaldhurst), travel for approximately another 12 minutes
to Aylesbury corner on your left - a large sign directs you to
Hororata, Rakaia Gorge and Mt Hutt. Turn left, go over the railway
line and follow the yellow pointer signs to Lake Coleridge and
Terrace Downs. At Hororata, turn left at the round-about, following
signs to the Rakaia Gorge and Mt Hutt. Drive approximately 20
minutes more, until you arrive at 4-way intersection in Windwhistle.
Drive straight through the intersection, on Coleridge Road, and
continue for 6 kms until you reach Terrace Downs. Look for the
big stone walled entranceway on your left.
